Around 600 women celebrated themselves at The Medical Center's ninth Annual Day Just for Women.
It was a moment for the attendees to get away from the hustle and bustle of their everyday lives and spend the day learning about their health and well-being.
Nancy Woodson says she's always wanted to attend the event and this year, she finally had the chance to.
Nancy says she had the opportunity to learn how to include humor in her daily life.
"It's more of an approach or an attitude. So once we get people thinking about that then they realize this is a business skill or a life skill that they can acquire by doing certain things", said Jeanne Robertson, who is a motivational speaker and humorist.
Robertson discussed how humor could be a strategy for success.
She says people take exercise breaks and coffee breaks, so why not take a humor break?
Robertson says to gather all of your funny memories in a manila folder. Then, when you need a pick-me-up, take one of those memories out of the folder.
"You just laugh for a seconds, that's a humor break. It relaxes you. It reminds you of the good times when things are bad", said Robertson.
Nancy says she was inspired by the day and from now on she won't worry about little things. "It was just good to think I need to do that. When things are bad I need to stop and look for the humor and think about the good things and not just worry about little things", she said.
The women in attendance visited more than 40 booths and had the chance to receive various health screenings.
