Three area Kentucky State Troopers are honored at an annual awards ceremony today.

Kentucky State Police held this year's awards ceremony at the Capital Plaza Hotel in Frankfort.

Trooper Jerry Knight the second was awarded the KSP Citation For Bravery.

Trooper Knight began his career with the KSP in 2003, and is assigned to Muhlenberg county.

Trooper Derek Smith was presented with an award for being named the Madisonville Post's nominee for Trooper of the Year.

Smith began his career with the KSP in 2005 and is assigned to Hopkins county.

And, Andy Olson, a five year veteran of KSP at Post 15 in Columbia, was named the 2008 Trooper of the Year.
