The procession included around 300 police vehicles and fire engines and 100 other vehicles.

The procession down Interstate-65 stretched for ten miles as a rolling road block closed the southbound lanes ahead of the line of vehicles.

Passing vehicles in the northbound lanes of the interstate pulled to the shoulder to pay respect to the fallen officer.

The support from surrounding law enforcement agencies was very evident at tonight's graveside service for Master Police Officer, David Whitson.

Hundreds of officers from as far away as Evansville... Lexington, and Louisville made the trip to Gallitan for the service.

As the sun set patrol cars started streaming into the cemetery followed by bagpipes and Whitson's horse and family.

It was an emotional final goodbye as an honor guard performed a rifle salute which was followed by a police helicopter flyover.

The most emotional moment was when a police dispatcher radioed Whitson for the last time repeating the phrase "headquarters to 179" before finally saying "may 179 rest in peace", Whitson's badge number is 179.

Bowling Green Police Chief, Doug Hawkins presented the American flag to Holly Whitson before the entire Bowling Green Police Department filed passed Whit son's casket laying flowers on it.

After every officer had said goodbye, Whitson's family including his daughter, five year Hannah and eight year old son Jacob laid roses on the casket.

After all the goodbyes were said the same stream of police cruisers that escorted Whitson's body to Crestview cemetery left, tail lights a glow in the cold, dark night.

Master Police Officer David Whitson's body was left behind, but the memories he left with his brothers and sisters will never be forgotten.
