A sad day at one of the area elementary schools as students mourn the loss of a fellow classmate.

Friday afternoon students and teachers at T.C. Cherry Elementary held a memorial and balloon release in honor of fourth grade student Becky Gregory. The nine-year-old died Sunday after suffering from Vater's Syndrome. The syndrome is a term used to describe babies born with a series of multiple birth defects.

Students and teachers say they will remember Becky for her bravery, determination and upbeat attitude.
