Bowling Green Erects Three New COWS Sirens

"We estimate we're gonna get probably about 75, so the city of Bowling Green is covered completely with what we like to consider a Very Adequate Warning," said Brian Lowry, Emergency Management assistant. "The rest of the city has Adequate Warning, but we think these three new sites can provide that Very Adequate Warning."

The three new sirens cost a total of $66,000, paid from the city's capital improvement fund.

Lowry also said they plan to add two-to-three new sirens every other year to cover the entire county.

WBKO Weather Director Chris Allen was part of the committee formed by Warren County Fiscal Court to secure funding for and erect the first round of outdoor warning sirens in 1998.
