It seems everybody these days has a cell phone, an Ipod and a computer. One WKU group isn't saying that's a bad thing, but it's encouraging other students to put them down, even if it's just for a few minutes, and pay attention to the world around them.
The group called Students Opposing Silence gathered on DUC south lawn on Nov. 20, 2006, at WKU and held up signs in protest. They were protesting the lack of civic engagement in our society today. They're asking students to get engaged in important things locally and globally.
The group protested as part of a class project.
