Man Charged in Kentucky's Biggest Cocaine Bust Pleads Guilty

James M. Wall, 59, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa admitted to possession with intent to distribute cocaine in federal court, but entered an Alford Plea to Possession of a Firearm in a Drug Trafficking Crime.

That means he does not admit guilt on the gun charge, but does acknowledge there may be enough evidence for a jury to convict him.

Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement officers found about one kilogram of cocaine, and $600,000 cash in Walls' tractor-trailer rig, when he stopped at the weigh station on I-65 in Franklin Jan. 25, 2002. Walls will be sentenced Dec. 3.
