Thanks to Operation Christmas Child, thousands of unfortunate children around the world will share in the holiday spirit.

Around 10,800 boxes full of toys and other items were put together by volunteers at Forrest Baptist Church last week and are en route to 90 international destinations.

Those closest to Lynn Daniel said her love for children was extraordinary. Even after she was diagnosed with cancer of the epiglottis - her mission was to see children happy.

In 1994 Daniel introduced the national project Operation Christmas Child to South Central Kentucky.

The project started off with 75 boxes. This year volunteers at the collection center put together close to 11,000 boxes from area churches and organizations.

Up until her last moments, Daniel gave all she had to children.

With the help of her mother, Daniel prepared 125 boxes for her church to fill. Family and friends said this type of attitude was common.

In addition to being involved in Operation Christmas Child, Daniel was very active in many other community organizations. Just to name a few, Acteen leader, 6th grade Sunday school teacher, Trunk or Treat director and children's church leader.
