Teresa's Gives Thanksgiving To Community

Thanksgiving brought out the true holiday spirit in Bowling Green, Ky., today. While you were at home preparing your feast, dozens of volunteers were making sure other families didn’t go without a meal.

“A lot of lonely people just searching to know that somebody loves them and that’s really what we try to do,” said Teresa Blair, owner of Teresa’s restaurant. When you enter Teresa’s restaurant that’s the feeling you get.

“Anybody who doesn’t have a place to go, we’re furnishing a meal for them,” Blair said. A delicious free helping of turkey was served, with all the fixings to go with it.

“I think it’s the best thing to be doing for people in need,” Bowling Green resident, Terry Henson said.

“Just everything is really good,” said Sue Cline, another Bowling Green resident.

Blair has been doing this for nine years. She teamed up with area churches and community volunteers to help feed needy families.

“I’ve been doing this for four or five years, with my parents. It’s a tradition,” volunteer, Will Houchin explained.

“That’s what Thanksgiving is all about, giving back and giving thanks,” said Brenna Stewart, another volunteer. Hundreds of people will walk through this line.

“I brought a couple of my friend’s here with me today. It’s a great place,” resident, Billy Wilson commented. If families can’t attend, they’ll still get a hot meal.

“I’m delivering these to people who can’t get down here,” Wilson went on to explain.

“It does feel good to be part of the community and that’s our main purpose, to let people know somebody cares about them,” Blair said.

If you weren’t able to make it out to Teresa’s today, you’ll have another chance. They plan on serving a meal again next year.
