Kentuckians are getting ready to support U.S. troops through the Great American Cookie Swap. The Cookie Swap will be held nationwide on Dec. 9, 2006.
Mildred Russell has helped organize a reception in Lexington, Ky., at the Moberly Manor Nursing Home.
Russell said members of the public are asked to bring homemade cookies to swap or a monetary donation. The homemade cookies will be sent by Treat the Troops to U.S. troops overseas. Treat the Troops is part of a U.S. Defense Department program.
The Sizzling Skillet Cooking Club in Hardin County, Ky., will also host a cookie swap. They will send the goodies to a National Guard unit recently deployed from their area.
