Pearl Harbor

Dec. 7, 2006, marks the 65th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

It's a day the country will never forget, and many veterans gather annually in Hawaii to commemorate the attack. The federal government estimates 1,000 World War II veterans die each day.

"The families are extended. They're bringing 10 or 12 members. And I think they're saying to the families, 'This is where I was, this will probably be (voice cracks) the last time i'll be coming back'," said Daniel Martinez, National Park Service historian.

The keynote address at the commemoration came from former NBC Anchor Tom Brokaw, author of "The Greatest Generation."
