For the first time, the American Red Cross and the community of Smiths Grove have teamed up to give blood.

Saturday, a blood drive was held at the Smiths Grove Baptist Church.

It's the first time the Red Cross has conducted a blood drive inside this Warren County community.

Donors say their glad to have the event so close to home.

"I like it here because I don't have to go all the way to to Bowling Green. It takes more time and more gas than to get it here... It's fun," says donor Patricia Oberhausen.

The theme of the blood drive was "And The Beat Goes On."

Red Cross officials hope to have more blood drives there in the future.
