Refugees among us are celebrated today throughout the world... including here in Bowling Green.

Saturday June 20th is known as World Refugee Day and Bowling Green's International Center" held a celebration for those local refugees at Keriakes Park.

Right now, there are nearly 500 refugees in Warren County from countries like Burma and Nepal.

"Most of these refugees arrived in the last year or year and 3 or 4 months and its a day to celebrate them and let them know that we appreciate them being here," says James Robinson, Executive Director of the International Center.

In addition to food and games, Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker proclaimed today as "World Refugee Day".

Bowling Green joins hundreds of cities across the U.S. and Europe taking part in Saturday's celebration.
