A Grayson County, Ky. soldier is dead after suffering a heart attack.
Col. Phil Miller said 37-year-old Staff Sgt. Thomas Clemons had a heart attack on Dec. 11, 2006, before going on patrol in Iraq.
According to Miller, Clemons' health screenings before he went overseas indicate there was no health condition that existed previous to his deployment.
Clemons was a member of the Army National Guard since 2000. He was deployed to Iraq in March 2006.
Governor Fletcher has directed flags to remain at half-staff until sunset on the day of Clemons' funeral. Arrangements have not been determined.
Clemons is the 13th Kentucky Army National Guard Solider to die in U.S. military operations since Sept. 11, 2001.
