Kentucky Ranks 3rd in Health Crisis

Kentucky ranks third in the nation when it comes to responding to public health emergencies, according to a study released today, Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2006.

The study, done by Trust for America’s Health, said Kentucky meets eight of ten criteria for bio-terrorism preparedness. That’s up from 2005 when the state met only six of the ten components.

Kentucky’s Public Health Commissioner, Dr. William Hacker said in a statement today, that although work remains to be done, the state’s health system is ready to respond to emergencies.
