LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Police say a Whitley County teenager is critically injured after his friend accidentally shot him.

Lt. Chuck Davis of the Whitley County Sheriff's office told the Lexington Herald-Leader the 14-year-old and 15-year-old boys were playing with a loaded gun. The gun belonged to the victim's father, who was on the property at the time.

The victim, who wasn't identified, was flown to University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, where he was listed in critical condition.

Davis said authorities were investigating but no charges had been filed.
