Letters to Santa

Santa's making his list and checking it twice. In order to help Jolly ol' St. Nick with the billions of letters he gets from all of the good little girls and boys across the world, employees of the downtown Bowling Green, Ky., Post Office are helping him sort his mail.

Becky Boyd has been one of Santa's helpers for the last 12 years. Each year she helps him sort all of his mail.

"This is a stopping point. We get all of the letters together, we go ahead and open them and get them bundled together and then we express mail them to him, so he can answer all the letters," Boyd said.

So far this season, Santa has received 400 to 500 letters from just the children in Bowling Green.

"Oh, they're from all of the good boys and girls. They're wanting puppies and ponies and kittens but sometimes it's too cold in the sleigh for animals but they also want dollies and robots," Boyd said.

She said Santa's keeping a close eye on the boys and girls in the area to see if they've been naughty or nice.

"He's so happy with the kids from the area this year," Boyd said.

She said helping Santa with the letters each year helps keep the magic of Christmas alive.

If you haven't heard back from Santa yet, he's replying to as many letters as he can by Christmas Eve.

If you haven't sent your letter yet, don't forget to put your name and return address on the envelope.
