Grayson County residents are mourning the death of a fallen soldier.
Staff Sergeant Thomas (Turtle) Clemons died of a heart attack Dec. 11, before going on patrol in Iraq.
Colonel Phil Miller said health screenings before Clemons went overseas didn't show any pre-existing health conditions.
Clemons was a member of the Army National Guard since 2000. He was deployed to Iraq this past March and was brought back to Kentucky Monday night, Dec. 18.
Clemons is the 13th Kentucky Army National Guard soldier to die in U.S. Military Operations since Sept. 11, 2001.
He's the second soldier Leitchfield has lost in Iraq.
Governor Fletcher has directed flags to remain at half staff until sunset on the day of Clemons' funeral. Clemons' funeral is Thursday morning, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m.
