Authorities in Barren County are calling a late afternoon fire there arson.

The Barren County Sheriff's Office responded to the house fire on center road just before five yesterday. Volunteer fire fighters from Hiseville, Cave City and North Metcalfe were able to maintain and put out the fire.

The home was vacant at the time of the blaze and had no electricity. As a result, the fire is thought to be arson. The state fire marshall will investigate the scene later today.

There is a $500 reward being offered for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of those involved.
