49-year-old Ricky Wells, of Mammoth Cave, is charged with murder in the death of his step-mother, 69-year-old Edmonson County resident Lucille Wells.

Wells was found by her boyfriend, shot to death late Monday inside her Brownsville home.

Neighbors of Lucille Wells spoke about the person they say would do anything for anyone.

"She had great laughs and everything. She was a good person," said Geraldine Vincent, a friend of Wells.

A community in shock.

Tuesday, neighbors of Lucille Wells stopped by her home to remember a friend.

"She was always a good worker, always trying to help other people with their work and show people what to do," Vincent said.

James Lindsey had been dating wells for six months.

"You never find faults in Lucille. She was a good a friend as I've ever had," Lindsey said.

Lindsey says he went to see his girlfriend Monday evening.

That's when he found what was usually a well-kept home, completely destroyed inside.

"When I turned her over, you couldn't tell what she was for the blood. She was dead. I couldn't get a pulse," he said.

Lindsey tells WBKO Wells and her step-son, 49-year-old Ricky Wells, did not have a good relationship and recalls an argument the two had after Ricky Wells' father passed away.

"She said, 'I don't want to talk to you and you've got no business here. I don't want no trouble started here."

But Lindsey and neighbors agree, Lucille Wells will be a member of Edmonson County gone, but not forgotten.

"I'm going to miss her so bad," Lindsey said. "I miss her."
