Two-thousand and seven is just around the corner but before you put away your 2006 calendar, mark one last important date.
Residents within city limits and annexed areas are responsible for paying city property taxes regardless of whether a bill is received.
“The penalty is ten percent and it kicks in, in January. People don’t realize that’s the biggest hit is the penalty on the interest,” said Jeff Meisel, Bowling Green’s Chief Financial Officer.
If you sold property during the year, you may forward the bill to the new property owner. If you’ve purchased property, you may not receive the 2006 bill directly from the city.
If you are still unsure who is responsible for a particular tax bill, contact the City Finance Department at 270-393-3619 to avoid a late payment penalty.
To pay your city tax bills in person, you can do so at the Finance Department located in the City Hall Annex at 1017 College Street.
Offices will be closed at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 29, for the New Year’s holiday. There is a payment drop box located outside of the City Hall Annex entrance for your convenience.
