GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) -- A former Georgetown detective says he has settled his lawsuit against the city, after he was accused of viewing pornography on his work computer.
In an interview with the Lexington Herald-Leader, Tom Bell said he will get $430,000, an apology, and a letter of recommendation from the city. He now works as an investigator in the state attorney general's cyber crimes branch.
Bell was suspended without pay in June 2007, and accused of having 34 adult pornographic videos on his computer.
Kentucky State Police determined the images were evidence in an investigation and cleared Bell. He said Georgetown Mayor Karen Tingle-Sames and Police Chief S. Greg Reeves had known it was evidence.
A statement from Tingle-Sames said the city's previous insurance carrier negotiated the settlement as "a business decision."
