Kentucky lawmakers will begin their first legislative session of the new year this week. A bill intended to restore projects the 2006 budget denied to universities like Western, is a main issue up for discussion during the general assembly this year.
Other issues include limiting future governors’ veto power, a possible budget surplus and increasing I-65’s speed limit to 70.
The General Assembly will meet from Tuesday to Friday then take a 25 day break before reconvening again in early February.
