A Christian-only health care program could be shut down.
A Franklin County circuit judge could rule within the next two weeks on whether Medi-Share can continue to operate in Kentucky. The State Department of Insurance has asked Judge Thomas Wingate to ban the program because it's not subject to the same laws and regulations that govern conventional health insurance companies.
Medi-Share (supported by contributions from participating church-goers) is based on the biblical belief that Christians should take care of one another's needs. The head of The American Evangelical Association explained it as a cost-sharing program, not insurance.
