Today, Thursday, Jan. 18, 2007, the Kentucky Department for Public Health announced that flu activity in the Commonwealth is now considered widespread.
The DHP urges anyone who hasn’t had a flu vaccine to contact their local health departments about getting the flu shot. Supply of the flu vaccine in local health departments in Kentucky is plentiful and getting vaccinated is the best preventative measure.
There are two methods of the vaccination available, the most commonly known, the flu shot and the nasal spray vaccine, sometimes called LAIV.
If you would like more information about flu vaccines in your area, call the Barren River District Health Department at 270-781-8039 or log onto their website at www.barrenriverhealth.org.
