It was an emotional homecoming today, Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, for members of the Kentucky National Guard and their families.
One-hundred and five members of the 198th Military Police Battalion returned to Louisville this morning.
The battalion served over a year in Afghanistan. They performed detainee operations and security patrols.
“I don’t think I even realized how tense I was until he called me and said he had landed in Ft. Dix, New Jersey and I just collapsed. I just cried, you know. Just to know that he wasn’t getting shot at anymore,” said Kelly Preston, soldier’s wife.
Staff Sergeant Mike Preston said his family and country mean everything to him and that there is nothing like the United States.
