A small group of area elementary students are getting involved in the lawmaking process. They are hoping to make their bus ride to school a little safer.
Fourth graders at Lake Malone Elementary are writing the governor asking to straighten Muhlenberg County's dead man's curve. The curve, which is U.S. 431, has claimed three lives this year.
Next year about one hundred of Lake Malone's students will have to travel the road to a different school, Hughes Kirk Elementary, while a brand new school is built. In February, when the general assembly meets, students will head to Frankfort and hand-deliver the letters to Governor Fletcher.
