A Beaver Dam couple was arrested on theft by deception charges after collecting money for their sick child who may not have been sick after all.
The Kentucky State Police reports since September of 2005, 29-year-old Sharon and 33-year-old Milton Sheets IV, led people to believe their ten-year-old son had cancer and other illnesses.
The police report states the couple collected money from churches and citizens in Ohio County. Police say it’s believed the Sheets received more than $12,000. People in the community reported to police that some days the child appeared to be sick and on others he looked healthy.
The report states it’s believed the Sheets may have been over-medicating their son in order to make him appear sick. The Sheets were charged with criminal abuse and theft by deception over $300.
The couple is currently lodged in the Ohio County Detention Center.
