If you received a gift card or certificate this holiday season, but it’s to a store you didn’t like or the store was to far away, we have a solution.

Certificateswap.com launched last week and is designed to be a virtual marketplace for buying, selling, or exchanging gift certificates.

This is how it works, a potential seller offers an unused gift card at a price discounted from face value, a buyer pays certificateswap.com which hangs on to the money until the buyer has received the card.

The site has arranged to sell cards for around 400 stores. Certificateswap.com hopes to make money by charging sellers a processing fee of 7.5 percent of a cards selling price.

Cameron Johnson, 19, is the founder and CEO of Certificateswap.com, based in Roanoke, VA.
