Bowling Green Mayor Elaine Walker said the city is at the top tier of growing metropolitan areas in the country.
Mayor Walker just got back from the U.S. Conference of Mayors Congressional Meetings in Washington D.C. There, she got a chance to swap ideas with over 300 mayors from all across the nation.
“One of the things that impressed me was that mayors from towns of all different sizes were able to get together and share information. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a city of 500,000 or 45,000, we’re all equal so there’s that ability to generate info from the way other cities are doing things,” Walker said.
Today, Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2007, Mayor Walker got a chance to share what she learned at the conference with the city. She addressed the city’s metro growth, saying Bowling Green is growing faster than many other cities.
Mayor Walker also addressed strategies to increase home ownership and affordable housing.
