Approximately 200 seasonal or temporary workers and around 100 permanent employees were laid off from the AO Smith Plant in Scottsville.

Rumors of the lay offs have been circulating for months. Finally, the lay offs took effect on Friday, Aug. 2.

AO Smith officials say that a slow down in productivity and the use of a plant in Mexico prompted the lay offs.

Allen County Judge Executive John Hobdy says the county will continue to pursue new industry for the area.
