Going through a tough situation is never easy, but being surrounded by others who have been through the same thing can help. Having people to network with and help mentor you can relieve a lot of pain. The Medical Center held their annual reunion for former heart patients.
Brian Feltner suffered a heart attack nearly five months ago. He had triple by pass surgery at The Medical Center. He came out on Feb. 11, 2007, to take part in the reunion and find comfort and support from others who have been down the same road he has.
"It's good to go to a place where there's a couple hundred people who have been who have through it already," Feltner said.
Feltner said the support from the people at The Medical Center has been outstanding.
"We've been very impressed with the hospital and the staff, the heart doctors, the surgeons, the cardiologist, it's a top notch type of organization and they take real good care of people," Feltner said.
Feltner also said he knows several people who travel to Louisville, Ky., and Nashville, Tn., to have heart surgery's and said you can get the best care here right in Bowling Green, Ky., too.
"They act like they remember you so I mean your just not a number or face that they don't ever see again," Feltner said.
Feltner also said he's really enjoyed the support from the doctors who worked with him.
"it's nice to see the doctors come out and be regular people."
Feltner and his wife said they felt right at home at the reunion.
"Yes we'll be back next year we sure will," Feltner said.
The event was held this month in honor of February being national heart month.
