Forums to be Held for Disability Rights Advocates

The state wide Independent Living Council held a public forum in Glasgow, Ky., on Feb. 12, 2007.

The council is gathering input from the community for revisions to the state's plan for independent living disability programs and services for individuals who choose to live on their own.

Kentucky currently has six centers that assist people with disabilities.

"The program is designed for individuals with disabilities to be able to live as independently as they choose in their respective community," said Sarah Richardson, vocation rehabilitation.

The council is preparing a three-year plan. Suggestions and comments given today could reflect the state plan that will go into effect starting October 2008 - September 2010.
