Following the country’s first case of mad cow disease Kentucky beef specialists say our state is working on improving our livestock tracking system.
For more than two years the Kentucky Beef Network has been working with a model animal identification system to help track food safety, animal health and homeland security.
Governor Ernie Fletcher showed his support of the Cattlemen’s Association by presenting a $2 million check to them Saturday morning. The money will be allocated out to livestock auctions to put computers, scanners and other equipment in place so they can track animals.
