A Bowling Green couple is facing child abuse charges after a three-year-old boy nearly died.
Leroy Jermaine Sturdivant, 24, and Dreva Kirkwood, 21, were arrested at the Medical Center Emergency room yesterday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2007.
Bowling Green Police said Kirkwood and her boyfriend brought her three year old son there around 2 p.m. The child was not breathing and had no pulse, but ER staff was able to resuscitate him.
According to police, the child had a severe head injury, cracked ribs and was covered in bruises.
Sturdivant and Kirkwood were taken to the Warren County Jail on assault and criminal abuse charges.
The child was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital for treatment this morning. He is listed in serious condition.
