Drivers experienced delays early today, Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, as an early morning fatal accident shut down portions of I-65 North.
A semi truck and trailer was traveling northbound on I-65 when the accident happened at mile marker 19 near the Natcher Parkway.
The truck ran off the right shoulder of the road and struck the Carter Sims Road Bridge. The driver, Michael McMickle of Alabama and his passenger, Jimmie Lomax of Georgia, were ejected from the vehicle.
McMickle was pronounced dead at the scene and Lomax was taken to The Medical Center for serious injuries. The accident is still under investigation.
