Shock and confusion are running through Kentucky as "former State Representative" Steve Nunn is found at the center of a possible scandal.

Around 10:45 this morning Kentucky State Police stopped here at the Cosby Cemetery in Hart County on the lookout for former gubernatorial candidate, Steve Nunn.

Police found the 56-year-old Nunn's vehicle in the cemetery.

Nunn appeared to have self-inflicted wounds to his wrists when officers got to him.

"They didn't appear to be gunshot wounds at this time but they're not life threatening," says KSP Detective Jonathan Biven.

KSP had been searching for Nunn in the Horse Cave area after receiving a call from Lexington-Metro Police.

Police in Lexington were trying to find Nunn to question him in the apparent murder of former girlfriend 29-year-old Amanda Ross.

Detective Biven says the deputy secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family has strong ties to the cemetery.

"This is the area his parents are both buried and just came by here and observed a vehicle he was allegedly driving and that's why they came here."

Nunn's mother Beulah and father, former Governor Louie B. Nunn are buried just a few feet from where their son was found.

Nunn was transported to The Medical Center in Bowling Green where he's listed in "fair" condition.

But word of what had happened moved quickly to the neighboring town of Hiseville.

Glenda Honeycutt of Sherry's Restaurant was shocked by the news.

"Because he was always a kind, considerate person when he would come in and everything," she recalls.

As of right now, as more details become clear, she says Steve Nunn's name will be on the lips of most everyone in town.

"Its probably going to be the main topic in the morning. Hearsay... this one heard this. That one heard that. Mainly that's what its going to be," notes Honeycutt.

Lexington-Metro is taking over the case from Kentucky State Police, but as of right now, Nunn has not been arrested in the murder case.
