Chicken Recall

First it was Great Value and Peter Pan Peanut Butter being recalled. Now, it’s more than 52,000 pounds of Oscar Mayer Ready-To-Eat Chicken Breast Strips with Rib Meat.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said some of the packages may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Listeriosis can potentially cause high fever, severe headache and nausea.

The recall affects all six-ounce packages of Oscar Mayer that bare the number P-19676. On the back of each package is a use by date of April 19, 2007.

So far there haven’t been any reports of illness associated with the product.
