Cigarette Tax

Tennessee residents may be heading toward Kentucky in the very near future.

Starting Monday the price of cigarettes in Tennessee will increase by $0.07 per pack.

The Tennessee legislature voted to raise the price of cigarette taxes from $0.13 to $0.20. Newscenter 13 talked with cigarette business owners in Franklin who say they expect business to pick up even more starting Monday.

Kentucky has the second lowest tax rate in the country at $0.03 per pack.
