Slim and Staci Nash say they are acting out a last resort. On Wednesday, the Nash family filed a lawsuit against their insurance providers, Western Kentucky University and Medical Benefits Administration or MedBen.
The lawsuit claims that WKU and MedBen lacked a reasonable basis to deny coverage for authorization of the Nash's claims.
The Nash family is seeking an award of punitive damages.
WKU spokesperson, Bob Edwards says Western's attorney has not seen the lawsuit therefore any comments would be preliminary.
Presley Nash has a genetic disease called Mannosidosis. The only treatment is a bone marrow transplant.
The insurance provider will not cover the cost of the procedure.
