Friday morning, the two men accused of trying to kidnap a 14-year-old Warren County girl have their first day in court.
Dragan Jovanovic and Elvis Tahirovic appeared in Judge Sam Potter's courtroom for a pre-trial conference.
During the hearing, Bowling Green Detective Barry Raley testified Jovanovic and Tahirovic, along with two other juveniles, one which was Jovanovic's son, tried at least twice to leave the state with the young girl.
According to Raley's testimony, the young girl tried unsuccessfully to sneak out of her parent's home last Friday to meet up with the two men and the juveniles.
Then this past weekend, the 14-year-old girl told police she did have face-to-face contact with the Jovanovich's 14-year-old son at Greenwood Mall.
Raley testified the girl said she didn't leave the mall with the boy because she had a friend with her.
In the past, Jovanovich allegedly offered to pay the girl's parents to allow her to go back with them.
The final time the men and two juveniles went to Henry Moss Middle School to meet the young woman when school officials called the police after seeing the suspicious group.
The men were then arrested at the Dollar General store right across the street on Russellville Road.
When questioning the girl, police found out the girl didn't go to school on Monday for two reasons.
The first is because Monday was a Bosnian holiday and all Bosnian students are excused from classes that day.
Secondly, the girl told police she had a change of heart about running away to North Dakota.
"Through the course of the investigation, the detectives were able to obtain statements from individuals involved as well as on the periphery of the events. They learned that these individuals traveled to Warren County for the purpose of taking a 14-year-old back to North Dakota," says Warren County Commonwealth Attorney Chris Cohron.
Raley adds the girl was supposed to marry Jovanovich's 14-year-old son.
The men remain in jail on a $100,000 dollar bond.
Cohron says the case will now head to the Warren County Grand Jury.
