A bill headed to the Kentucky Senate would require women seeking abortions to be provided with additional information before the procedure.
Under the measure cleared by the Senate Judiciary Committee, women would be informed about fetal pain and the use of anesthesia in prenatal surgeries.
The bill said the new material would tell women that by 20 weeks gestation the unborn child has the physical structures necessary to experience pain.
The Senate recently passed another bill requiring women to have in-person meetings with medical professionals at least 24 hours before having an abortion.
The bill has not received a hearing in the House Health and Welfare Committee.
