Some local students are becoming crime scene investigators.

Sixth-graders at Briarwood Elementary are taking part in a program sponsored by the Regional Science Resource Center at Western Kentucky University.

It teaches the students to use hands on science skills by touching and analyzing objects. There is a mock crime scene set up and the students do finger-printing, foot-printing, fiber analysis and blood testing.

Cindy Lewandowski, a sixth grade teacher says, "Students can't wait. This is the second time it's come to our school and the buzz around the school is they just can't wait they're so excited."

The program is free to the schools and is set up by Western's Regional Science Outreach Center.
