Governor Steve Beshear is speaking out on an audio recording posted on You-Tube, where his lieutenant governor is apparently heard using profanity and criticizing him.
In the recording, the apparent voice of Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo can be heard blasting the governor, saying he will be remembered as the "state's worst."
Mongiardo is apparently heard saying he is so frustrated with Beshear, that he is "close to saying f- it all. I do not need this job. I do not need the U.S. Senate."
Beshear says he hasn't heard the tape, but he has heard it's been doctored and says unfortunately, that's politics.
"The bottom line is Lt. Governor Daniel Mongiardo has been a great lieutenant governor with me. He's worked hard and been great with me helping the state get through the tough economic crisis -- helped move this state ahead. We talk all the time. We work together every day. We talked just this morning. We're both determined not to allow political shenanigans drive a wedge between us."
A spokeswoman for the lieutenant governor, who's running for U.S. Senate, says the tape was edited and Mongiardo strongly supports Beshear.
