A racist and hateful letter is making its way around Franklin and it's causing some problems. Franklin police are investigating a typed letter that was sent to a member of an African American motorcycle group. In the letter, several degrading and scalding comments were made about African Americans.
Franklin Mayor, Jim Brown, says since the letter was sent two weeks ago it has been copied and passed around the community. Four names were typed at the bottom of the letter but police don't believe those four are responsible. However, those four people have received death threats.
Brown says they do have an idea of who sent the letter and plan to match the suspect's typewriter ribbon with the letter. Brown says he believes the letter was sent as a way of getting revenge on the four people whose names are listed.
