Harper Visits Bowling Green

Republican candidate for governor, Billy Harper, made a couple stops in Bowling Green.

The Paducah businessman first arrived at Western Kentucky Diagnostic Imaging on Scottsville Road. The center sponsored the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce's business after hours event.

Harper recently joined the chamber of commerce and said he wants to give people a chance to get to know who they're voting for.

Harper made a second stop at Western Kentucky University's Downing University Center where he met with students and faculty. He discussed his experience with public school reform and his recent work as chairman of the business forum on Kentucky education.

"For 20 years I've heard about drop outs. One thing I want to do as governor is put money in daycare and preschool so that every student has a chance at a high school diploma," Harper said.

Harper also said another part of his platform is repealing the alternative minimum tax.
"Thats a tax that we put on Kentucky business. We should be helping Kentucky get jobs and not penalyzing them."

This stop was part of Harper's state wide bus campaign tour.
