A Clarksville woman has entered pleas on five felony counts in Todd Circuit Court. Paula Marie Terrones pleaded guilty to the five counts today, Wednesday, March 7, 2006, which arise from the theft of nearly $280,000 from the Gutherie Senior Citizens Center’s bingo operation.
Terrones was sentenced to five years on each count to be served concurrently. The sentence was probated for five years or until the entire amount has been repaid.
An investigator with the State Office of Charitable Gaming said Terrones was a bookkeeper for the senior group and in July 2003 she began altering checks written to other payees.
The center ordered an audit after financial irregularities were uncovered. The Department of Revenue may also issue an assessment and a civil fraud penalty on Terrones if the amount was not reported as income.
