Scottsville won an "Enterprise Cities Award" for converting Dollar General's old financial headquarters into a three-story home for the Chamber of Commerce, Industrial Development Authority, and the Community Development Alliance.

The building will also house county and state government offices and offered emergency office space to the Housing Authority of Scottsville when 22 inches of rain forced them out of their own office.

Bowling Green won for the Lost River Cave and Valley Wetland project, a cooperative effort between city. state, and federal governments, along with WKU, and corporate and non-profit partners.

They combined to create a water retention basin planted with special plants that naturally treat storm water, before it returns to the cave system.

The project provides sustainable wetlands, tax savings, and environmental education opportunities, with no long-term maintenance costs to taxpayers.
