LONDON, Ky. (AP) -- A former University of the Cumberlands student has been sentenced to 12 years and one month in federal prison for trying to blackmail a fellow student into sending him a sexually graphic video of herself and for possessing child pornography.

The Corbin Times-Tribune reported that a judge handed down the sentence last week to 24-year-old Sungkook Kim.

Kim pleaded guilty in April to 24 counts including blackmail, identity theft and the illegal access of school computers. A jury convicted him of possessing child pornography.

A grand jury indicted Kim in mid-December, accusing him of using e-mail to threaten a fellow student, saying he would send videos of her engaged in sexual activities to others if she did not make and send similar videos to him.
