The version of the state budget passed by Kentucky's House on Tuesday would delay the construction of a specialized training center for the Transpark's first tenant, Magna International. The center's delay could jeopardize the efforts to bring a 960,000 square ft. facility and the 1,000 new jobs and $200 million investment to the South Central Kentucky region.

ITA officials say Magna officials are "anxiously" watching the budget proceedings, and they say the move could endanger the prospects for future businesses to locate to the Transpark.

Warren County Judge Executive, Mike Buchanon, says he is worried by the developments but believes the move is part of a political effort in Frankfort, and he remains confident the funding for the center will be included in the final version of the state budget that must pass the Senate and be signed by Governor Fletcher. Buchanon says the governor remains committed to the project.

The House's budget would delay the project until at least 2006 as part of $7 million cut to new construction projects in Kentucky's Technical College System.
